Just a few fun science toys

So I found this really cool ant farm! I love ant farms. They are great for kids and just fun as heck to have! I found it on Thinkgeek.com, one of my favorite sites ever! This one runs for around $29.99. This is definitely an easy one. No need to feed them even as the gel has all the mutrients for the ants right in it. Gel developed by NASA. Pretty sweet, huh? I thought so! The ant farm actually lights up to, it has, from what I saw on the website a choice of either red or blue leds!
Nice.
  • AntWorks is based on a 2003 NASA Space Shuttle experiment to study animal life in space and test how ants successfully tunnel in microgravity.
  • The AntWorks Gel (Non Toxic) is complete with nutrients to promote healthy growth in the new colony.
  • Watch ants live, work and tunnel in the nutritious and non-toxic gel as they create series upon series of intricate tunnels.
  • The included LED illuminator acts as your Antworks base and when plugged in will shine four bright blue LEDs up through your torquoise gel. The ultimate nightlight is upon us! (120v).
  • Easy to care for - Ants need NO food or water.
  • Case is 6.5"x 5.5"x 1.25"
  • Choose between Red (for evil minion ants) and blue (for space marine ants) gels.

Now for my next trick, I know I am lame. The next thing that I found extremely cool is the Desktop Carnivorous Plant Set. I find this one cool, because I used to have a Venus Flytrap. I loved that thing. When I was about 13 I had one and I thought of it as more of a pet than a plant. I mean come on, a plant that eats bugs, that's pretty freaking sweet.

Here's what they have.
    Each Complete Kit Includes:
  • Growing Dome
  • Planting Mixture
  • Carnivorous Seed Pack:
    • Venus Fly Trap
    • Yellow Trumpet
    • Hooded Pitcher Plant
    • Purple Pitcher Plant
    • Pale Trumpet
    • Temperate Sundew Plants
    • Cobra Lillies
  • 3 Photo Decals
  • 3 Bog Buddies
  • Swamp Rocks
  • Instructions and Information Manual
I think it's awesome. The only down side I see to it, is how the heck do you feed them when you run out of bugs? I don't want to research it right now, but I am sure they have some explaination. These are also from Thinkgeek.com and run about $22.99.

My last addition for the day is something I just happened across, on what appears to be a UK site. They take credit cards, so I am sure American's can buy from them as well.
The site is called Shinyshack.com! w00t, for nice name.
The product is a Hologram Chamber, the name is a tiny bit misleading, would be awesome if it was a human sized chamber!! lol

Apparently you toss something in there, such as a penny and light reflects of the item and mirrors within the chamber to make it appear as if the item were floating above the Hologram Chamber. I thought it was a nifty little thing. Might be fun to throw different small items in and see how well it works!
This little doo dad cost 3.95 GBP which is around $7.77 USD. I am sure that with a little Googling, you can find one on a US site, if they don't ship to America, or if it costs more than you want to pay for shipping!! lol

The Hologram Chamber measures 12.5cm in diameter, with the chamber hole having a diameter of 3.7cm.

Well, that's all for now, stay tuned for new posts and more cool items!!
